This is our 2nd spotlight on the fantastic art of artist Kim Norlien. This Minnesota native has the ability to capture the tiniest details of any given wildlife or landscape scene and transport you somehow into the scene as though you were on the outside fringes gazing in at the serenity and one-ness with nature that he is able to not only portray but convey with the brush. His gift is simply amazing. Leaves me in awe, sincerely.

Today's print is Beside Still Waters............

In this lovely art print, Kim Norlien has the ability to take the classic "loons on a lake" and "lakeside cabin" scenario and transform it into a lush, colorful and almost mystical place ~ a rich, lush and varied forest of conifers and deciduous hardwoods behind a warm and cozy "down home" sort of cabin, with one end of the lake taking on the magical purple / pink hues of either early morning or coming twilight, never quite discernable but magical and timeless.

Lush flowering bushes adorn the lakeside and an adorable family of loons ~ Mama, Papa and Junior ~ are out for their leisurely family swim. The crystal imagery of the lake water is unbelievable ~ creating a luring, mirror like effect on the entire scene.

This print is available from Direct Artwork as an oak framed print with double matting with the artist name and print title appearing on the name drop. Learn more about this print including about the free shipping to the lower 48 United States and the deeply discounted shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada.

About Artist Kim Norlien ~

Breathtaking realism, creativity, perseverance, as well as a personal commitment to excellence, have garnered Kim Norlien wide appeal from collectors and artists alike. Norlien is known for his attention to detail. Using a combination of hand painting and airbrush, each painting is lovingly handcrafted. Kim takes inspiration for his paintings from his Midwestern surroundings.

After high school, Norlien studied Commercial Art where he quickly rose to the top of his class. Following his graduation, Norlien spent the next eight years working as a commercial artist for Honeywell key lining technical manuals, cartooning, and hand drawing military scenes. In 1986, Norlien resigned his position at Honeywell to become a freelance illustrator. His work for national companies, including Musicland, General Mills, Carlson Companies, Honeywell and 3M among others, won him awards and national recognition.

His resignation not only led to a successful freelance career, but also allowed Norlien the opportunity to begin painting on a part-time basis. His first published print was released in 1991. Since then he has published ten other prints with diverse subjects including wild animals and birds, as well as domestic animals and nostalgic scenes.

Norlien's work has garnered numerous awards and honors. In 1997, he was invited to be featured as the spotlight artist for the Wildlife Heritage Art Show. He has received Best of Show awards, including one from the National Wildlife Art Show, and the 1996 People's Choice award at the Wildlife Heritage Art Show.

Shown below is "Aurora Bliss" a gorgeous scenic landscape art print by artist Kim Norlien.

This is an outstanding winter scenic art print full of the "winter wonderland" look of the "cabin on the lakefront" theme.

The magic of the scene is the warm lighted cabin on the frozen lake, the incredibly detailed snow on the trees, and the amazing, dazzling aurora borealis in full color just filling the starlit sky above the cozy, romantic cabin on the lake.

It's a beautiful little piece of winter wonderland paradise. The beauty of Kim Norlien's paintings are the incredible, fine detail put into each item. Each painting makes you feel like you are "there" instead of just looking at a fine art print. You are somehow transported into the print, as though you were on the edge of the scene yourself.

This is our last post on our featured artist Greg Benson! I hope you've enjoyed the previous posts.

Today we feature "Riders on the Storm", a thought provoking print depicting the many ways we express our individualism as well as the independent way we live our lives.

Riders on the Storm depicts lightning shimmering across the valley from the distant storm. Thunder will not stop the young couple from taking a ride down the valley to enjoy activities at the county fair. There are many stories in this panoramic landscape.

A collie wanders on his own while his owners wonder where he is. Motorcyclists are often thought of as living life on the edge like the hidden images in this painting. These images are hidden in the painting for you to find - Marlon Brando as a post WWII biker, two 1960's adventurers looking for America, a cowboy, and Native American leader Geronimo who succeeded in evading federal authorities for 25 years.

"Riders on the Storm" celebrates the courageous individual who fearlessly follows his own path, and the warriors (Geronimo and the hidden soldier in the storm), who's loyalty sends him, (and her), into harms way to do battle for others.

There are 7 hidden images that you can view on a larger scale so that you can see the details ~ to enjoy these hidden images, simply click here.

This is a fascinating look at Americana and the American spirit of adventure and freedom. It's also a valuable addition to your Harley or motorcyle themed art collection ~ and with FREE shipping by Direct Artwork to the lower 48 states, and discounted shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada, we make great art like this affordable like no one else!

Our next featured artist installment will be a 13 part series on the very talented artist Kim Norlien.

"Freedom Riders" is number 3 in our four part series on the Harley Davidson motorcycle artwork of artist Greg Benson. This one is my personal favorite because of all the historical references ~ both to the days of early motorcycling and to our country's early history and Presidents. Here's a preview below.

A motorcycle rider crosses over the creek on a stone bridge to join a gathering of friends for an evening of celebration. It is early and people have just started to arrive. The bonfire has been lit. An example from the earliest days of motorcycling is already drawing people to the barn.

America's history of freedom and independence, (hidden images of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Paul Revere in the trees), is demonstrated perfectly by the motorcycle and those that ride them, and Greg Benson's powerful oil painting inspires us all to gather with friends and share our experiences.

All of Greg Benson’s limited edition prints are produced using only the finest museum quality acid free paper with colorfast inks.

Each aspect of producing every limited edition print is closely supervised by Greg Benson to insure it’s quality and integrity to the original oil painting.

Greg Benson’s canvas editions are produced using the same exacting standards and using the highest quality wrap-around artist grade canvas.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, is the piece d'resistance:

If you are curious to see the hidden images in this absolutely stunning motorcycle art print, simply visit the actual product page here on the Direct Artwork website. Directly underneath the large photo are 12 links to the hidden images, which are artfully and cleverly painted into this artwork piece by Greg Benson.

This is another fantastic art print to add to your Americana motorcycle art collection.

Hope you enjoyed Part III in our four part Greg Benson series of motorcycle art prints! Thanks for stopping by!
